“I’ll just quickly throw something up.” It’s a sentence I hear all the time, and on the surface, it sounds productive. After all, something is better than nothing… right?
Not always. When you’re posting on the fly, you’re usually creating content based on whatever pops into your head that day. There’s no plan. No customer journey. No balance between building trust, educating your audience and promoting your services.
What happens? You end up talking to the same people, about the same things, in the same way. Meanwhile, potential customers are quietly scrolling past because your content isn’t answering the questions they have or giving them a reason to remember you.
The biggest cost isn’t the hour you spent creating the post. The biggest cost is the opportunity you never knew you missed like the client who visited your profile but couldn’t see why they should choose you or the referral who checked your page before recommending you. Maybe it was even the person who wasn’t ready to buy today but would have been in three months if you’d stayed visible.
Every post is an opportunity. It’s an opportunity to build trust, demonstrate your expertise and remind someone you exist. Every post helps someone move closer to becoming a customer.
Without a strategy, those opportunities become accidental instead of intentional. A strategic content plan doesn’t just help you post consistently. It makes sure every piece of content has a job to do.
Some posts create awareness. Some educate. Some build credibility. Some overcome objections. Some showcase results and some ask for the sale.
Together, they work like a team instead of a collection of random posts.
So before you ask yourself, “What should I post today?” ask yourself… “What opportunity am I trying to create?”
Remember, business and leads don’t grow from random content.
