Dance to the right beat

I’m a bit of a party girl so one of the biggest things for me on my wedding day surprisingly was having a great music playlist that would entertain and captivate the audience and have them immersed in our day. Music in my opinion has the ability to transform a persons emotions or feelings, for instance if someone is having a bad day they tend to go and blast a Taylor Swift song or Metallica. Why? Because they can dance like no one is watching or perform horrifically awful dance moves whilst getting any anger or stress out. It has the ability to make or break an event. Music also assists in creating emotions which is necessary for a wedding day.

Here are some of my music suggestions for your big day to help alleviate some of your stresses.

Ceremony Music.

Here I created a really simple, and relevant playlist including songs that reflected romance or unity.

Here are some of my favourites:

  • Believe Again – Paulini and Ronan Keating

  • Just a kiss – Lady Antebellum

  • When You Got a Good Thing – Lady Antebellum

  • Looking for a Good Time – Lady Antebellum

  • Love is – Alannah Myles

  • To Be With You – Mr Big

  • I Do (Cherish You ) – 98 degrees

  • This Kiss – Faith Hill

  • Love’s Looking Good on You – Lady Antebellum

  • Always Be With You – Human Nature

  • The One – Backstreet Boys

  • Home – Michael Buble

These songs simply played in the background whilst people were entering the venue. The softness of the music provided an inviting mood yet allowed people to talk easily without distractions from the music. Our Wedding Ceremony was on the beach so it was lovely having subtle noise in the background to accompany the picturesque view of the waves crashing against the sand.

Walking down the aisle

They say that a first impression is made within the first seven seconds. People notice attention to detail particularly on other peoples big day so paying attention and detail to music and selecting songs that represent the two of you is so important. We chose songs from our favourite artists that were symbolic to us.

  • Just a Kiss – Lady Antebellum

  • Can’t Help Falling in Love – Michael Buble

Even though we didn’t pick the song Everything from Michael Buble it is definitely one of our favourite songs and has been the backing track for so many of our photo slideshows.

Walking back up the aisle

  • Feeling good by Michael Buble

This music was a great choice and really got the guests excited. The volume that it was played at was louder than the previous tracks to signify a celebration and the commencement of a soon to be party reception.

Dance Music

On your special day, good paranoid event planning brides like myself think about others and what can be done to ensure that others enjoy their time at your event as much as you do. You want your guests to find your day memorable too and good music, accompanied with food and table decorations are key. Here are some dancefloor favourites to encourage even the timid dancers.

  • YMCA – Village People

  • Nutbush City Limits – Ike and Tina Turner

  • Summer of 69 – Bryan Adams

  • Working Class Man – Jimmy Barnes

  • Macarena – Los del Rio

  • Can’t Hold us – Macklemore

  • Thriller – Michael Jackson

  • Shake it off – Taylor Swift

  • It’s raining men – Geri Halliwell

  • All about that Bass – Megan Trainor

  • Bang Bang – Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj

  • Break my Stride – Bluelagoon

  • Cheerleader – Omi

  • Gold – Guy Sebastian

  • Informer – Snow

  • Jessie’s Girl – Rick Springfield

  • Mr Put it Down – Ricky Martin

  • S Club Party – S Club 7

  • Save a Horse – Big & Rich

  • Uptown Funk – Bruno Mars

  • Honey I’m Good – Andy Grammer

  • Get Stupid – Aston Merrygold

  • Timber – Ke$ha

  • Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough – Michael Jackson

  • Sweat (A la la la la la long) – Inner Cirlce

  • Sweet Dreams – Eurythmics

  • 24K Magic – Bruno Mars

  • Swalla – Jason Derula ft. Nicki Minaj

  • Chained to the Rhythm – Katy Perry

  • Work from Home -Fifth Harmony

  • This is what you came for – Calvin Harris

  • Sax – Fleur East

Bridal Party Entrance Songs

So the MC at this stage would have the attention of your guests as they are eagerly awaiting your arrival so song selection is key here. It’s like the band that plays before the actual artist at a concert whose goal is to rev up the crowd. The music here will do the same for your audience and for your arrival.

The Bridal party in couples walked into the following songs.

  • Something Big – Shawn Mendes

  • S Club Party – S Club

  • Timber – Ke$ha

  • Tonight Again – Guy Sebastian

Our song selection was chosen due to the following.. S Club Party because our wedding was going to be a big party, Something Big because our wedding was definitely something big, Tonight Again because we had an event the night before and we were talking about Tonight and Timber because it was a party song.

We walked into Dear Future Husband which was fantastic and had everyone happy and laughing due to the relevance of the song.

Cutting the Cake

With the cutting of the cake the emphasis is on the action not necessarily the song therefore having a subtle song in the background is fantastic. Our chosen song was How Sweet it is by Michael Buble. Our cake was sweet and chocolate filled so thought this was relevant especially with the humour behind it. It was amazing to be able to play our favourite artist during a significant event.

As you can see through so many elements of your big day the role that your guests play is crucial so give them a chance to have some fun and shake their groove thing.

Happy Planning. x
